We aim to meet the training needs of the veterinary profession!

BTEC Intermediate Award in Veterinary Practice Client Care

This new and unique course provides an opportunity for veterinary practice staff to receive client care training specific to their profession, whilst working for a recognised qualification. The course is now managed by our associates In Practice Learning Ltd.

The aim of the programme is to equip veterinary receptionists and other practice staff with the key skills required to effectively manage the Client - Practice relationship. Whilst many of the skills required are not unique to the veterinary profession, the unique Client - Pet bond places unusual emphasis on certain key skills. These are brought out within the course, and set in an appropriate context to reinforce the learning.

The course is presented in three workbooks, allowing students to study at their own pace, either at home or in the practice.

Unit 1 Working with Clients

Introduces students to the key skills required to work effectively with clients. Students will learn the importance of basic client care, and have the opportunity to develop an understanding of how they can modify their own behaviour to improve their relationships with clients.

Unit 2 Managing the Client - Pet bond

Introduces students to the concept of the Client - Pet Bond, and how this governs the relationship between the practice and the client. Students will learn how to avoid or manage conflicts between the needs of the client, their pet and the practice. Students will also learn how to manage the end of the relationship when the pet dies, or is put to sleep, and how to handle client's need sensitively following the death of their animal.

Unit3 Maintaining and Improving Client Services

Introduces students to the tools and techniques required to enable client complaints to be handled appropriately in a way that the client's needs are met and the practice learns from the experience. Students will learn how to maintain a professional manner, question and listen effectively, and the importance of accepting and acknowledging the complaint on behalf of the practice.

As part of the assessment process, students are required to demonstrate their new skills to the satisfaction of their supervisor within the practice, ensuring that the student puts these new skills into practice on a daily basis.

The BTEC "Short Courses Framework'' has allowed the development of formal qualifications where the total level of study required is significantly less onerous than existing NVQ qualifications, equating to around 45 hours of study for most students.

Currently Fees are £265 + VAT
